Another Simplicity 4076 Top

Have a meeting tomorrow & will wear this. It can be both dressy & casual. Another wardrobe building piece.

This one sewed up in NO time since I already sewed the other one earlier this week. Will probably sew one in a solid.

Simplicity 4076 top

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I needed a quick fix since my last sewing project took awhile (i learned the lettuce stitch). MANY people have raved about this, and I tried the pattern a while back & made the twist version. This one is cuter & REALLY fast & easy to sew up.

Only change I made was to not hem, & did lettuce stitch on sleeves & bottom. If I make again (which I will since this is my new TNT pattern) I will add 2-3" to the bottom if I hem. Next one I make will be in a solid, although this print is a bit funky & I like it.

BWOF 3-2008 113 wrap top

This top turned out really cute. Just learned out to do a "lettuce stitch" so I was able to finish all the edges w/ this & it looks cute. I think it's my new fav finish. I HATE hemming. It looks pretty close to the mag picture.
I'll probably make again in a solid color. Love the brown floral though.

BWOF Top in red

tried it in a fuzzy red knit fabric. Pleats on collar are a bit different & make a big difference.

BWOF Top

Love this pattern!
Was very easy to do. Hardly used the directions. Very straight forward. 5 pattern pieces.
Will definitely do again.

November BWOF Brocade top

A very easy pattern. Will make a little longer next time & tweak the sleeves a bit. Loved it.

Striped Kimono & Oatmeal Kimono tops

it's difficult to see how great this fabric is. It has a slight metallic look to the bronze/tan color. It wasn't too difficult to line up the stripes, although I could have done it a bit better. The shirt is very fitted. I'll probably loosen up the neck on the next one so it dips a bit lower and gives me a little more room in my ribcage. I finished this late last night. Will prob. make one in red.

Tried a version in oatmeal colored knit I had in my stash. It's ok. Will have to wear bright jewlery to brighten up a bit.

City shorts gone wrong & Kimono top

started this last week but got frustrated & put it down. I am making the "city shorts" version shown in white. Made it in dark jean material.

ok, turns out I made too big a size & so it fits a bit funny. Got some major "whiskering" at the crotch. My 1st pair of pants & wasn't as easy as I hoped. Maybe after I make a smaller size next time it will go smoother. Had some problems around the zipper area.

making version "E" shown in red w/ short sleeves. I have some great striped fabric I got cheap in L.A.'s fashion district. I'll try to finish it tonight so I can wear out tomorrow night w/ CT when we go see Wicked.

Pink twist top

This was actually pretty easy. Surprising since the shirt looks complicated. I'll definitely make another.

Twist shirt

This twist shirt is my next endeavor. I started some jean shorts but got frustrated & put them aside. I just bought some cute pink knit fabric at the garment district last week which will be perfect.

Cherry Print Tie shirt

here is the new shirt worn. I think I'm going to change the sleeves since they don't sit correctly & look too big. I'll post a pix of new sleeves.

Cherry print tie top

Back from Palm Springs. This cotton blend is a print w/ cherries, white polka dots on black background. I love the fabric. I changed the neckline a bit so it fits me better. If I make this again I'll use only lightweight fabric so the sleeves settle better. Or, maybe change the sleeves. I think I'm ready to move on to the next pattern.

Black/White Polka dot Tie Shirt

Here's the finished shirt. The collar is a bit crooked, but it's just my 1st run. My next one will be in red. The pattern is quite close fitting, contrary to Simplicity's norm. They usually run a bit big. I had a blast figuring out my buttonhole stitch on my Brother CS-100 sewing machine. Even though I got it for around $200 at COSTCO, it's been a great learning machine & has survived a beating.

I'll do things a bit fifferently next time. Probably use a thicker fabric, since this was a bit difficult to work with. And put the collar in last, since I had to adjust the closure to fit which off set the collar an inch or two. Overall, not bad. Will continue to try new patterns.

Have to start the M&M quilt for Talynua's baby boy Maverick. Already cut the squares, just need to start sewing. She's due in early October & I want to get it to her in 2 weeks so she has time to co-ordinate the rest of the room.

New Project-tie shirt

Here is my new project from Simplicity pattern #4112. Got some sheer fabric 1/2 off at Joanne's Fabric that I think I'll use. Erica B.'s blog has been so inspirational to me. I've made similar things she has on her blog. But, she's an expert & I'm just beginning.

Tunic II

This version is my favorite & turned out really well. I'm going to wear it to work tomorrow. My new project now is a cute button up shirt I will work on before I leave for Palm Springs Friday. I'll post when I finish.

Made my 1st shirt from Simplicity pattern 3799. Turned out ok. Had a little difficulty w/ the collar. I'm going to do another one & nip it in in the waist a bit. I added side slits so it's more comfortable. CT was surprised when I showed him. I want to make another soon.
