Disneyland

The last time I went to Disneyland was when my whole family went when I was 14. Now they have CA Adventure. Had a good time. CT and I spent over 8 hrs. there, so I think we got our $$ worth. Would love to go again when the Christmas decorations are up & the Christmas parade is going. Have I mentioned I L-O-V-E Halloween and Christmas? I do.

Red Tunic w/ edging

Loved this red one & used a multi-color thread for the edging. My sewing machine is not doing so well. It's a low-end Brother CS-1oo. I might need to take it back since I haven't had it very long.
Getting excited about the idea of a new machine.

Purple Tunic

I found a really great pattern for a comfy tunic. I found the pattern runs big. And I had to alter the arm holes to make them smaller & shorten the shoulders. I made the version shown in white w/ 2 slits up the front. I used an edging stitch that looked really cute.

Floral duster and brown vest

Had this shirtdress pretty much finished last week. Was just waitng on getting some dark brown buttons to match. After trying it on I realized it was a bit too busy for me as a shirtdress. So, I decided to wear it as a duster, I just added 2 frog closures and will probably wear over jeans w/ a tank top or a plain ivory or brown dress.
Go to http://members.tripod.com/~perfectpatterns/frogs.html for good directions on making your own frog closure. I simplified the closure, since I wasn't using cord, but fabric made into a tube. It worked ok.

Here is an older pattern I got at a thrift store a couple of years ago for 19 cents. It was good practice for doing lining. Wasn't that difficult. I shortened it since I am short waisted & usually petite all my patterns. Well, this is from the 80s, so it was already short, too short. I added back in the length on my pattern & if I make again it will be a little longer which is in style now. May donate this vest to the local Goodwill since it fits a bit funky.

Have been in a bit of a sewing slow down since I've been busy in the evenings (favorite sewing time, since CT doesn't get home from work till late).

Got some gorgous fabric in the fashion district for a coat. Not ready to attempt that yet, since my sewing ability is still a little hit & miss. Maybe in a few weeks I'll be confident enough to delve into coat making.

Banana Republic favorites

Love the look of Banana Republic. Kind of a 40's look remastered. Very feminine. These inspire me.
I want to make the cape, I got a Simplicity pattern during the sale (Thurs-Sat $1.99 Simplicity) at Joanne's.
